Hear From the People Who Work Here

Real perspectives from our team on what it's like to work at Safe Hands Disability.

I've worked in disability support for six years and this is the most supported I've ever felt by a team. They actually listen to you and make sure you have what you need before you go out to a shift.
S

Sarah

Disability Support Worker, 2 years

Coming from a nursing background, I wasn't sure about making the move into NDIS coordination. The team walked me through everything. The training was thorough and my coordinator was always available when I had questions.
M

Michael

Support Coordinator, 1.5 years

The flexible hours are a lifesaver as a parent. I can work around school drop-offs and pickups. It's rare to find an employer who genuinely accommodates that without making you feel bad about it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Not necessarily. While qualifications such as a Certificate III or IV in Disability or Community Services are an advantage, they're not always required. We look for the right values and attitude. You will need to complete mandatory NDIS training and hold a valid NDIS Worker Screening Check before starting.
The NDIS Worker Screening Check assesses whether a person poses an unacceptable risk to NDIS participants. You apply through Service NSW. The check costs around $80 for a support worker and is valid for 5 years. We can guide you through the process when you're offered a role.
We offer a mix. Most frontline support worker roles are available on a casual or part-time basis. Coordination and administration roles tend to be part-time or full-time. Each listing specifies the arrangement and we're open to conversations about what hours work best for you.
We primarily service Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, and the wider Hunter Valley region. Most frontline roles involve travelling to participants' homes or community locations. Office-based and coordination roles are based in the Newcastle area.
All roles are paid under the SCHADS Award or above. Rates depend on your classification, qualifications, and experience. Penalty rates apply for evenings, weekends, and public holidays. Travel allowances are provided for client-related travel. We're transparent about pay from the first conversation.
Absolutely. We encourage expressions of interest at any time. Email your resume and a brief note to safehands.support@gmail.com and we'll keep your details on file. When a suitable role comes up, we'll be in touch.
